Eragon Book Review

A good book series can be hard to find nowadays. If you’re like me and struggle to find a good book, fear no more; I have a book that will keep you on your toes wondering what’s next.

That book is called Eragon and it’s written by Christopher Paolini. It’s about a boy named Eragon, who thinks he is nothing but a poor farm boy in the rural town of Carvahall living with his uncle Garrow and cousin Roran. While he was hunting one day he stumbles upon a smooth blue stone and takes it home, planning on selling it later to get some meat for his family. When the blue stone provides Eragon with a baby dragon, he realizes he’s in for more than he bargained. This baby dragon has just thrown Eragon into a world he wasn’t prepared for.

Eragon’s adventure just doesn’t end after one book; it has three more books after it! Eldest, Brisingr, and Inheritance are also part of Eragon’s adventure. I’m currently on Brisingr, and let me say that the previous book, Eldest, has so many plot twists! Christopher Paolini will keep you on the edge of your seat reading this series.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief

picsart_10-27-10-26-17I have been reading Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighting Thief by Rick Riordan. It is based on Greek mythology and is packed with action and adventure. The main character is Percy Jackson. The setting is in Camp Half-Blood, which is located on Long Island, New York.

Percy Jackson finds out something big about him. Something that explains why he has dyslexia and ADHD and all the unusual things that has happened to him in the past. He is a demigod. A demigod is a half human and half God. Being a demigod isn’t exactly easy for Percy either. He gets chased by mythological monsters and has been either kicked out or blown up his schools.

Percy goes to this place called Camp Half-Blood. Camp Half-Blood is the only safe place in the world for people like Percy, demigods. When he got there, he gets claimed by his godly parent, which happens to be Poseidon god of the seas. Claimed is when a god gives someone some sort of sign saying who their son or daughter is. After Percy gets claimed, he soon gets granted a quest to retreve Zeus’s lightning bolt before the summer solstice. Zeus’s lightning bolt has been stolen and he thinks that Percy has stolen it because he is the son of Poseidon. A quest is when a demigod gets chosen by the Oracle to out of camp and do favors of errands for the gods. Percy wasn’t going on this quest alone, he is allowed to bring two companions with him. He chose to bring Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena and Grover Underwood, a satyr(half man half goat). Together they took off on a dangerous quest trying to save the world from chaos.

I would love to tell you more about the story in more detail, but you’ll have to read the book yourself. I really hope that my book review has made you want to read the book. I thought that this was an amazing book and I loved every single page. You should really check it out too.

Tunnels series Book Review

5160arzmcdl-_sx327_bo1204203200_I have read the first two books in The series Tunnels. They are Tunnels and Deeper. I’m going to tell you what the series has been like so far. The series is about a boy named Will whose dad is a archaeologist.  Will helps his dad dig and sometimes digs tunnels by himself. Will only has one friend whose name is Chester. Will brings Chester to one of his digs(A tunnel), he dug by himself.

Around the same time Mr. Burrows Will’s dad starts noticing pale people walking around who wear long coats , sunglasses and hats. Mr.Burrows Decides to follow one but the man goes into an ally and when Mr.Burrows goes in the man has disappeared. After Will goes home he sees that his parents are arguing. After the argument Will’s dad goes down to the cellar and doesn’t come back. Later Will and Chester are walking home from school when they are chased by one of the pale people they manage to get away but they still wondered who the person was. Will decides to look for his dad and eventually goes down to the cellar to look for clues to where he could have gone. He ends up finding a tunnel his dad dug under the stairs. When Will goes to search it he sees that it has been sealed up. Will decides to go down the tunnel with Chester. They find that it was sealed up. After digging through The tunnel they find an underground city.

The rest of the books I have read so far have been about Will and Chester looking for Will’s dad and hiding from the Styx a underground cult that doesn’t like people who live above ground. That’s all I can tell you without spoiling anything. So far it has been an very exciting book series and I look forward to reading more. You can find the whole book series in the school library so you don’t have to worry about only being able to find the first books. I recommend reading them.

Book Review: Eleanor and Park

Have you ever heard of the book Eleanor and Park? No, well you should read this review. 🙂 Eleanor and Park is a romance novel written by Rainbow Rowell. The novel takes place in 1996-1997. But it’s not your average, sappy love story, no, this is different. Park is a misfit. He listens to rock music and wears all black clothes. His mom is from Korea and his dad is a veteran. His dad is disappointed in Park’s behavior and wants him to be a normal boy.  Eleanor is also a misfit, her family is less than normal. Her mom married a guy named Richie after Eleanor’s dad left her mom and the children. Eleanor suspects that Richie is physically abusing her mom, but does nothing in fear of getting hurt herself. Mainly because Richie is always drinking.  At her new school Eleanor gets bullied because she is different. From her clothes, to her hair, to her body, she is different. And on top of all of this, she is poor.

When Eleanor and Park meet, it’s not sparks flying, heart throbbing, head over heels, love at first sight. No, they actually don’t talk to each other for over a month! I would definitely rate this book 5 stars. I would read it again any day, and I definitely recommend it! BUT BE WARNED!!! THIS BOOK MADE ME CRY FOR OVER 15 MINUTES!!! It is very sad at the end. Ok, no more spoilers! If you have read this book, let me know in the comments and tell me what you thought about it.
