Top Ten Halloween Candies

candyzHalloween is an exciting time of the year.  Children like to dress up as characters or other things and go trick-or-treating.  Some adults like to stay at home and hand out candy.  Both of those may be fun, but most people think that the best part of Halloween is the candy.  Kids love getting candy for their costumes every year.  The question is, do you know what America’s favorite candies are?  This blog will tell you all about what the best candies are, based on sale facts from the USA Today website, as of 2015.

1.) Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
USA Today says these are the most popular candies for American children as of 2015.  People like these candies so much that they sell almost $510 million of Reese’s.  Reese’s come in mini, the regular size and around Halloween, a pumpkin shaped version.  A big reason people like these candies because they come in individual packaging, so they are easy to give out.  These treats are a delicious treat for anyone, except if you are allergic to peanut butter.

2.) M&M’s
These bite-sized chocolates rake in about $500 million a year.  This is the second highest selling regular candy, they are ranked eighth in snack-sized brands.  People like M&M’s to put in things like cookies and others, but others love them just to snack on.  M&M’s come in minis, peanut, pretzel, peanut butter, regular and the company has recently announced a new caramel variety.  Peanut M&M’s are the top selling M&M’s out of them all.

3.) Snickers
Snickers were the third most popular candy sold last year at Halloween.  This popular candy has the equally popular catchphrase, “You’re not you when you’re hungry.”  Last year, $457 million worth of snickers were sold.  Some people like this candy because of its many layers, which include caramel, nougat, peanuts and chocolate.  Snickers are another delicious candy, if you don’t have peanut allergies.

4.) Hershey’s
Number four on the most popular candies list is Hershey’s milk chocolate bars.  Hershey’s are a popular brand of chocolate that has been around since 1900.  These candies are passed out on Halloween quite a bit, raking in $325 million in 2015.  Did you know that chocolate can actually be good for you?  Well, it can, and that is probably a good reason to buy Hershey’s.  The sales for Hershey bars increased by 12% in 2015 at Halloween.  Hershey’s come in regular, almond, cookies and creme and dark chocolate.

5.) Kit-Kat
Kit-Kats were the fifth most sold Halloween candy of 2015.  They sold about $307 million worth of Kit-Kats last year.  Kit-Kats also launched a co-promotion with Google for Android called simply “KitKat.”  Kit-Kats are packaged in pairs, and in bigger packs four.

6.) Twix 4 to Go
The Mars company sold about $116 million in Twix last year.  More specifically, the Twix 4 To Go, which come in packages of four.  Twix are made of cookies and caramel and then covered in chocolate.  Twix were introduced to Americans in 1993 by the Mars Company.  This is also the most expensive top selling candy with chocolate as well as 60 cents more than a regular Twix.

7.) 3 Musketeers
The number seven candy on this list is one of my personal favorites.  3 Musketeers made more than $100 million in 2015.  These candies were introduced by the Mars company in 1932.  The 3 Musketeers’ sales decreased by about 10%, but an explanation for that could be their lack of advertising.  3 Musketeers are fluffy chocolate nougat covered in more chocolate and come in packs of two and one.

8.) Hershey’s Cookies and Creme
Hershey’s Cookies and Creme bars made around $100 million in 2015.  These bars are a variant of the more popular bar, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate.  Hershey’s Cookies and Creme are made with white chocolate and cookie pieces.  Although not as many people like these chocolate bars, they helped to boost over all Hershey bar sales by 9%.

9.) Milky Way
Number nine on the best candies countdown is Milky Way bars.  Milky Way’s made more than $93 million last year.  They were introduced in 1923 by the Mars Company.  Milky Ways are made with nougat, caramel and chocolate.  They come in regular, caramel and dark chocolate.

10.) Almond Joy
The final candy on this list is Almond Joy.  $82 million dollars worth of Almond Joy’s were sold in 2015.  The began being sold in 1946 by the Hershey company.  These yummy candies are made by pressing together coconut and putting almonds on top, then covering them all in chocolate.  They are similar to their other candy, Mounds, that lack the crunchy almonds on top.

This has been the top ten best candies for Halloween, credit to USA Today for the facts and number.  Thanks for reading!

Most Popular Pets People Like To Have.

Hey guys, so I thought it would be cool to do a post about most popular pets, so the first pet that I want to look into is the first 15 dogs. Now according to, some of the most popular dog breeds for pets are: #1 Labrador Retrievers, #2 German Sheperds, #3 Golden Retrievers, #4 Bull Dog, #5 Beagles, #6 French Bulldogs, #7 Yorkshire Terriers, #8 Poodles, #9 Rottweilers, #10 Boxers, #11 Pointers (german shothaired), #12 Siberian Huskies, #13 Dachshunds, #14 Doberman Pinschers, #15 Great Danes.  Now in my opinion Great Danes are the best because I have one and am planning to get two more.

Now the second pet that I want to review is the cat. I know that a lot of people at my school like cats. So instead of going strait to the snakes I decided to go over the cats second. So the most popular cats are: (to #1 Persian, #2 Exotic Shorthair, #3 Maine Coon, #4 Ragdoll, #5 British Shorthair. Now according to the most popular cats are… #1 Siamese, #2 Persian, #3 Maine Coon, #4 Ragdoll, #5 Bengal, #6 Himalayan, #7 American Shorthair, #8 Manx, #9 Russain Blue, #10 Sphynx. Now that was from two different websites. What is your favorite cat breed?

The third pet that I want to go over is the snake. I know that there are a lot of people that don’t like snakes, but I love them and I know that there are a lot of people the do like them so that is why I am reviewing this pet. So the first two most popular snakes according to were… #1 Corn Snake, #2 Ball Python. Now According the most popular snakes are… #1 Corn Snake, #2 California Kindsnake, #3 Rosy Boa, #4 Gopher Snake, and #5 Ball Python. now I know that Snakes are not for every one, but they’re not the blood thirst creatures that will bight you the first chance that they get. They are actually very calm. the only reason the a snake would bight or attack you is because it was scared or felt like you were a threat or going to hurt it. And then it might bight or attack you if it was hungry.

The fourth pet that I would like to go over is the bird(Parrot or macaw or other birds). Now according to the three most popular birds are the… #1 Parakeets, Budgies, #2 Cockatiels, #3 Finches and Canaries, #4 Lovebirds, #5 African Greys. Now another sight that I found ( said that #1 was the Cockatiel, #2 African Greys, #3 Budgies, #4 Conures, #5 Macaws, #6 Cockatoos,#7 Amazon Parrots, #8 Poicephalus Parrots, and #9 Pionus Parrots, #10 Quaker Parrots. Now that’s the most popular pet birds.

Now I had a rainbow macaw and loved him. His name was Beeper, my mom origanaly got him so that she could have a pet for her. But soon after she got him he bonded to my dad. Right after beeper bonded with my dad, he bonded with me and he just stayed bonded with me. Me and beeper developed such a good relation ship that he would attack any body that came in to 3 foot radius of me. Beeper ( this is kind of enbarising) even started throw up and try to feed me like I was his child. He would get on my arm, he would crawl up on top of my head and groom me. Beeber would even play tag with me and follow me around. He would also watch TV with me and cuddle with me when we were watching TV on the floor and on the couch.

Now I did a review of 14 people in my school. 9 of them said that they liked dogs. 3 of them said that they liked cats. Then there was one person that said she liked horses and one person who said he liked snakes. If I put my self on that list I would also chose that I like snakes, so that would make two snake lovers.

Well that’s the most popular pets. I hoped you liked this post, and I am curious what is you favorite pet and why. Well that is all, See-ya.

Top Ten Best Lunch Foods

I have interviewed a few frequently lunch buyers to see what they had to say on the best lunch foods.  Our school has pretty reasonable lunch foods and I certainly like a large amount of the lunch menu.  Before I go on talking about the best foods, I will tell you my three least favorites.  My all time least favorite is the Quesadilla.  I am usually a big fan of quesadillas but the school’s version is not my kind of quesadilla.  Mexican Haystacks are my second least favorite.  I mean seriously Mexican haystack?  I didn’t know there were haystacks named after Mexicans.  Last and definitely the least would be the mini pancakes.  You are probably like ohhh yummy, PANCAKES but they are pancakes that come in a bag?!  There very soggy and not like the pancakes your dad makes on Sunday mornings.

  1.  Sliced meat and cheese wrap is the tenth best lunch food.  Meat and cheese wrap is just a simple lunch that most people enjoy!

  1.  Brunch for lunch came in as the ninth best lunch food.  Why not eat breakfast then 2 hours later have some more!

  1.  Lasagna is the best of the best when it comes to Stouffers.  Now when it comes to lunch foods it gets a little weary.  Not the best but I guess some kids like it.

  1.  I personally love this lunch food but I guess it’s not the most popular.  Chicken and Noodles.  Like the best food ever!  It would be my first by the way.

  1.  Calzone is what I usually get at a pizza place but calzone here are the bomb.  They are pizza wrapped in like garlic bread, type pizza crust.

  1.  Now at number 5, half way through the list with pizza sticks.  There is a bit of a pizza theme going on but I can live with some pizza a few days in a row.

  1.  The good ole boneless wings.  These wings are like another night on the ranch.  They were so good and I would definitely buy them again.

  1.  We just go from chicken to chicken but at the third favorite is… Asian sweet chicken.  When I eat that chicken it feels like I’m sitting in an asian restaurant.

  1.  Chicken to pork.  Pulled pork sandwich.  Pulled pork is my favorite food and it seems to be close to the favorite lunch food in the school.

  1. The all time favorite lunch food is…  Chicken Nuggets.  The chicken nuggets is at the top of the favorites list and I can see why.  They are so good and they taste like you got them at a restaurant that specializes in chicken nuggets!

Some pretty good food if I say so myself.  Maybe some of you like those foods and maybe some of you don’t.  I usually never buy and after this I probably might start buying a little more than usual.  There are some schools that have quite the taste buds for good food.  I have even heard that people get to go home from school for a certain time period and eat there own food!  I would love to do that but then again, our school is far from where some of the students live so it would be difficult for them to get home.  After all this typing I am craving some chicken nuggets.  Well that is all about, the Top Ten Best Lunch Foods and I will write more later!

9.Silent Night

This song first performed on Christmas Eve 1818, in a small town in Austria.  This song is like a lullaby and a Christmas Song all in one, you could listen to it before bed on Christmas Eve!

This song along with Jingle Bell Rock are the perfect picture of the 50’s rock and roll era.  But believe it or not the first performer of this song, Brenda Lee, performed this when she was only 13!

Endangered Animals

When you think of animals, what do you think? Do you think of pets such as dogs, cats, and fish, or farm animals like pigs, cows, and horses?  Maybe you think of native wild animals of the U.S for example deer, bear, and eagles, or other wild animals for instance elephants, giraffes, and lions.  Well when I think of animals I think of all of them. I love animals they’re so interesting they can’t talk but they listen.  For this post I’m going to tell you about the top ten most critically endangered animals.

Starting at number ten is the South China Tiger, there was estimated to be about 4,000 in the wild in the 1950’s.  In the decades to follow the South China Tiger was hunted as a “pest”.  In 1979 the Chinese government banned hunting it, in 1996 there was estimated to be only 30-80 tigers left.  The South China Tiger has not been seen in the wild now for twenty-five years.

In the number nine spot is the Sola, the Sola was discovered in 1992, it was the first large mammal discovered for more than fifty years.  It was found in vietnam and it resembles an antelope.  The sola male and female have horns and they have white stripes but they are very rare.  The down fall to the Sola is the fact that they are getting caught in snares meant for wild boar, sambar and muntjac deer.

For number eight the Pangolin takes the spot.  The Pangolin is a scaly, it is also known as as the scaly ant eater because it eats ants.  The Pangolin is found in two different continents and  there are eight different species.  Four are in Africa and the other four are in Asia.  Sadly they are hunted for their scales and their meat so they are critically endangered.

Number seven is the Mountain Gorilla, the Mountain Gorilla is split in two.  Mainly based on the areas they live in, half live in Virunga Mountains, the other half is located in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.  The Mountain Gorilla is a subspecies of the eastern gorilla, but since they are living in two different groups some think they may be two different subspecies.  They are unfavorably being pushed into areas where there is a very slim survival chance by humans.

The Leather-back Turtle brings in the number six spot, the Leather-back Turtle migrates a lot in the Pacific and Atlantic ocean to feed on jellyfish. The Leatherback Turtle is very spread out but their population is decreasing.  Some places say that they are vulnerable others say the Leatherback Turtle is critically endangered

Number five is the Javan Rhino.  Out of five different species of Rhino the Javan Rhino is one of the most endangered.  The Javan Rhino last in Vietnam was poached in 2010.  There are estimated to be only about 60 individuals left.  They are grey with a single ten inch horn.  Unfortunately poachers threaten to make them go extinct.

Number four is the Hawksbill Turtle, found in many tropical oceans.  The Hawksbill Turtle eats sea sponges but they also eat sea anemones and jellyfish like the Leatherback Turtle.  They like all organisms are very important to their food chains.  Their shells have very intricate patterns, they are overlapping scales.  They are hunted for their shells, sold as tortoise shells.

In the third spot is the Cross River Gorilla.  The Cross River Gorilla is a subspecies  of the western gorilla.  They live in rugged areas that scientist have little access to.  They are critically endangered because they live in different groups and hardly ever make interact with each other this brings on the problem of reproducing correctly.

The Black Rhino is number two.  European hunters are to blame for the early decrease in Black Rhinos.  It is very upsetting to know that it wasn’t unusual to have five to six killed per day.   Another depressing fact is that they were hunted for either food or flat out amusement.

Number one is the Amur Leopard.  The Amur Leopard, a subspecies, lives in eastern Russia.  They are also known as  the Far East leopard, the Manchurian leopard or the Korean leopard.  They are being threatened to go extinct by people poaching their prey.  Also illegal wildlife trade threatens them, their skins were being sold for 500 to 1000 dollars each.

After reading this post I hope you have a deeper respect for animals and their habitats.  If you mess with one little thing in an ecosystem the whole thing will be messed up.  Also I hope you know what poaching will do to our world if we continue to do so, it will deplete us of our resources and eventually destroy the Earth.

Top 10 Books to Read

Image from:

There are a LOT of books in the library. To much, actually. So many, that a lot of people don’t know what to read. So here are my recommendations.

A book that’s good if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands is Skin. It’s only 100 pages long and is about a teenager with something evil inside him and as he puts it, makes it look like a pizza exploded all over his face. The only thing I really don’t like about this book is a lot of things come out of nowhere. Then again, it’s not like there were a lot of pages to do this on.

The book that got me into reading is titled Animorphs. It’s about a kid named Jake with his 4 friends, Cassie, Rachel, Tobias, and Marco. It kinda has that 90’s horror movie feel to it because they’re walking home from the mall, a U.F.O. lands around where they are. An alien with no mouth and eyes on stalks tells them about an alien invasion. So he asks them all to touch a blue box on his space ship. It gives them the power to turn into any animal they touch. And the rest basically just happens and BOOM! You have a book series that has like, 30 books.

The Fallen is probably my least favorite book in the Enemy series. And by that I mean it’s the least good. (Wait, what?) Because this book is awesome, just not as awesome as the others. The story is the most different then the other books in the series. In stead of some sort of info and them traveling (well, there’s some of that) it shows how they struggle in their life in this new world. Deaths, psychopaths, and lack of supplies. It really puts the apocalypse in perspective.

Dark Inside is another apocalypse book, but Dark Inside is not just your run-of-the-mill apocalypse book. Instead of zombies, it’s an ancient evil that makes everyone want to kill each other. They’re skin doesn’t rot and their brains don’t 100% die. And they can talk. Also a bunch of random sinkholes appeared in the ground.

Swipe, ah, where do I begin with you? It’s about a 12 year old boy who lost his sister during her Pledge. You have to Pledge when you turn 13 to get the Mark. You have to get Marked in order to become an A.U. citizen. They explain more about it in the book so read it!

The Fear is a another apocalypse book, another book by Charlie Higson. When you put that all together you realize, oh, it’s another Enemy book. THAT I AWESOME. The plot is that one of Ed’s (He was introduced in the last book) friends, DogNut, (that’s his nickname) sets out to try and find more settlements. This is as far as I can get to without spoiling anything.

I’m sorry, but number 7 is, The Dead, which is the 2nd book in the Enemy series. If you’re tired of hearing the Enemy series then turn back now because I’m afraid the rest will be the Enemy series. Anyway, The Dead is about Ed, Jack, and Bam trying to survive and find places to sleep and camp. A lot of death is in this book so don’t get to attached to anyone. The first scene takes place in Rowhurst School. By the way, I think I forgot to mention that the Enemy series takes place in London.

The 8th entry on this Top 10 will be The Sacrifice. In this book, Small Sam and his friend, The Kid, set out find Sam’s sister while back at the Tower of London, Ed faces the stress of leading a group this big. And there’s another story going on but I won’t spoil that one… But anyway Sam’s search is brought to a screeching halt when… Oops, it’s time for number 9!

The Enemy is what started this amazing book series, and is the second best of all of them (at least in my opinion). It begins at Waitrose (correct me if I spelled that wrong please) and begins to introduce all of the MAIN characters. They go and head out for food and find a vending machine in an old pool. This is as far as I can go without spoiling anything major so GO READ IT!

The Hunted. THIS BOOK IS EPIC! It picks off right where The Fallen stopped. Where Ella and wet Monkey Boy were in the middle of the road. Monkey Boy dies by the way. Ella finds a grown-up who isn’t crazed, Ed’s group finds a car and drives it around in search for Ella. Might I mention that the 3 most awesome characters in this book are Kyle, Lewis, and Ed. SO COOL! MUST READ! And the races, but I’m getting ahead of myself. I give this book a 5/5, or a 10/10, or 100%. But basically, it’s perfect!

And that was the Top 10 books I think everyone should read.
