Hey guys, as you probably know, Mr. Barnes (Technology Teacher) bought some cool, new technology for all of the technology classes. He spent over $10,000 of equipment that includes, Raspberry Pi, VR (Virtual Reality) Headsets, Video Production Cameras, Circuit boards for an activity called Arduino and he also bought new high quality tables.

The Raspberry Pi is basically an animation device. First, you have to connect the cables to the Raspberry Pi, let it download to the computer itself, then explore. You can do all types of things from making an animation to creating a new game. This is some good technology.

The VR headsets are extremely cool! You get to put a phone inside the headset and watch some expeditions like they are real life. You could be in mid-air, in a ancient historic place, and also in space. But have to warn you, the expeditions make you feel kind of sick. It also makes your head hurt.

Video Production is fun because you have a green-screen that you can stand in front of and an iPad to take pictures and videos in. The iPad has an app which can turn the color green into any picture you want. For example, if you’re making a news report for McDowell Middle school, you can make the background the Braves logo.

Arduino is an activity in which you make patterns on a circuit board. It has wiring that you put on the circuit and it has a certain pattern you put to it. I’m not entirely sure about this subject in technology but you can check it out!

This is the amazing new that Mr. Barnes bought for the amazing students in McDowell. The kids don’t get to keep it, but it stays in the classroom and everyone can use it. Every week, you go to a new location and do new things like, Raspberry Pi, Virtual Reality, Video Production, Arduino, and lastly, there is a station where you can do anything school appropriate on a computer.
