One morning, Sam Bubble was watching cartoons and then he heard a bird chirping. He followed the bird’s chirping to the kitchen window. He opened the window and tried to give the bird some bread but, the bird had flown in and stood on the couch. Sam grabbed the bread and a towel and took it into the living room. Sam sat down, put the towel on his lap, and picked up the bird and sat him on his lap.
Sam fed the bread to the bird while he was watching cartoons. The bird fell asleep in Sam’s lap and when he did, Sam just finished watching his cartoons and turned off the T.V. Sam’s eyes were not staying open, and without knowing, Sam fell asleep with the bird. As soon as Sam fell asleep his mom, Katherine Bubble, walked in and screamed. When she screamed, she awoke the bird and Sam. Sam immediately said “ Can I keep him?” and Katherine replied with a “ We’ll think about it.”. Sam sat up and kissed the bird, in excitement, and something happened.
There was a blinding flash of light and suddenly, the bird started talking in Sam’s voice and Sam started chirping. Katherine screamed as loud as she possibly could and her neighbor, Joline Paul, came running over as fast as she could. Katherine and Joline are as close as two peas in a pod. Since they were so close, Katherine related the whole story from when Sam asked to keep the bird to when they change roles. Joline was shocked, she had never heard anything like it before. Neither of them knew what to do and then out of nowhere, Joline jumped and said “ I got it!”. Joline said to Katherine “ When Sam kissed the bird, they changed right? Well if that’s how it happened then why don’t they do it again to change back?”. Katherine was really confused by what Joline said and had said “ What?”. Joline explained to Katherine what she was going to have Sam do and Sam said “ Alright, I’ll have to get the bird to kiss me. How will that work? But before we switch, I want to do something.” Right after Sam said that, the bird started to fly in the air and landed back down.
Sam flew up onto the bird that was in his body and pecked, ever so lightly, his lips. Then with a blinding flash, Sam realized that it worked! Sam was in his body and the bird was its body! Sam asked his mom again if he could keep the bird and she said with a smile “ You still want to keep it after all of this happened? Well, if you really want to, you can.”. Sam said to the bird “ I’m going to name you Switch!”. Later that evening, Joline went home and Katherine and Sam went to the pet store and bought a bird cage, feed, waterer, and some treats that he could feed to Switch while watching cartoons. The pair lived happily ever after eating treats and watching cartoons.
