Kanye West Biography

  

   Kanye West, we all know the name. But do you understand his fame? Kanye Omari West, also known as Yeezy, Ye, and Yeezus was born on June 8, 1977 in Atlanta Georgia. As a child his parents (Donda and Ray West) divorced when Kanye was only three. His mother, whom he grew up with, was an English Professor and his father, whom he spent summers with, was an award-winning photographer who became a church counselor. 

   In 2002, when Kanye West was still trying to make it, he was driving home from the recording studio, a car cut him off, which led to a head-on collision. He nearly died, but walked away with only a fractured jaw. Weeks later, he went back to the studio and wrote a song about the accident. When he released the song it was a hit, which led to the beginning of his success. Kanye released his first rap album The College Dropout in 2004. It sold 2.6 million copies and won a Grammy for best rap album.

   Today West is married to the one-and-only Kim Kardashian, an award-winning TV star, entrepreneur, fashion designer, and author. They currently have one child (North West) but have recently announced that they are expecting another. Kanye West has been nominated for over 352 awards and has won 89, including 21 Grammy’s and 11 BET Hip Hop Awards. Kanye released the song “Hey Mama” in 2005 as a tribute to his mother, telling her his appreciation for her. Two years later in 2007 his mother died at age 58, the day after she had cosmetic surgery.
